created several two-disc Led Zeppelin compilations (Early Days, Latter Days; Mothership), but neither of them really
reflected the band's radio play or best songs.  Tracks like Going To California, Misty Mountain Hop, Dancing Days, Fool
In The Rain, and (especially) Hey, Hey, What Can I Do never made the cut, while The Battle Of Evermore and No Quarter
(both times) inexplicably did.  Holding each CD under 1:10 also lost time that could have been used on at least a track
a piece.  That means neither official comp was entirely satisfying or complete.

This set aims to rectify
these problems, although I have to admit I fudged it a bit.  The first CD originally didn't contain Ramble On, but that
song really needs to be included.  Putting it in takes the disc up to 81 minutes, which probably can't be burned without
professional equipment.  I included an edited Living Loving Maid so that the original CD can be restored and created if
desired.

Basically this compilation succeeds through better track selection and using of resources.  Some
resequencing of tracks from chronological order produced a different but interesting feel.  I wasn't afraid to spill
over with tracks from IV onto the second CD, but this was fine since their later output wasn't quite as
successful.  Led Zeppelin are one of the few bands whose entire studio output is arguably essential (not Coda of course,
but that was released after they broke up), and you probably already have those CDs anyways.  There's clearly a market
for a two CD greatest hits compilation though, so now one of the greatest bands finally has one worthy of them.
